oh four day weekend.
i have been consistantly having fun times the past four days.
friday- went to disney land wiht jillian to help her spend her birthday fun card at disneyland. (because if you have an annual pass you can go on your bday and get a gift card with 70 bucks on it.) and then we went out to dinner for her 21st. followed by a viewing of the notorious b.i.g. movie. then some quality time spent with friends in the albertos parking lot untill 2 in the morning.
saturday- went to mark lamberth's funeral. i did not know him but i had been reading the blog and praying. seriously i learned alot at the funeral and got to hear some awesome people speak things i really needed to hear. then i watched pineapple express and got a pedicure with jillian and andrew. we decided to go to disneyland the next day so i acutally went to bed pretty early.
sunday- actually got up to go to sandals at 8:30 am. yes in the moring. then a quick trip over to bunch and then me jillian and andrew were off to disneyland! and it was crowded. we didn't ride that many rides but we saw alot of shows and did that whole thing. it was fun but i came hoome exhausted.
monday- got to sleep in and then went to balboa with some of the girls from my cottage. i really was in a poopy mood at first. i dont know why i was so cranky. but then i ended up having a lot of fun. and the sunset was beautiful. (believe it or not, but this picture was taken with my cell phone.)
but now it is monday night and i have homework to work on, some reading i want to get done, clean up my room, and i need to do laundry becuase im about to run out of clean underwear (you can wear jeans over and over again, but once you are out of chonies its totally laundry day).

pictures galore.
So today i plugged my cell phone into my computer and i figured i would blog about all the random pictures i had on my cell phone. that first one is a package of pickles. i thought it was weird. like picture a lunch pack size of apple sauce, pudding, or fruit cocktail. but fill it with pickles.
prepare yourself for the next one, its a little graphic.that is what my room looked like last week for a few days. it was really really messy. it is clean now. and someday i want to do like a video tour of my cottage, because those are always fun.
that's jackie. she is holding the sweet baby jesus that was part of the nativity scene on the mohn's lawn. she brought him into the house and then found out it was like made by some famous artist and is pretty valuable. sweet baby jesus in your golden diapers.
this is what i drew last week in art class, it's not finished yet.a while ago wile i was at barnes and nobel i saw this book.
it has the same cover as twilight. weird.
and this is my new favorite application.PolaDroid project. its really easy to use. you just drop on image into the camera. it snaps photo and then you have to wait a few moments for it to develope. and then you have a polaroid looking image.
justine, corinne, me, and molly before our fancy girl dinner.
justine and kristin at justine's 20th birthday party, it was jonas brothers themed.
i made a bunch of polorids last night. lots of fun. and again, the link is here for that sweet application.

lights camera action.
"hey have you seen that new youtube video?"
"which one?"
"i don't know. just search for 'rachel weinstein' it should be the first one that comes up. its awesomely hillarious. i just want to meet her!"
that is a dream of mine. i want to be a youtube star. how amazing would that be. i could go on the ellen show and talk about how i am using my new found fame to share jesus with the world.
so this past week i made a baby step toward that goal. they have been filming cbu promotional videos this year and on Wednesday when i came back from class there was video and lighting eqipment all over the cottage.
here is our awesome princess bathroom with a huge light and other stuff. first monica and holly fake studied. i kinda felt left out at this point becuase i was just sitting in my room watching all the excitement unfold around me.
but then the door into the entertainment industry opened up for me. the director came over to me and basically said, "hey there beautiful girl. i think you would be a great asset to our film. i have a good eye for this sort of thing. i think you are an excellent representation of the cbu student."
and i said, "why thank you kind sir. i would be happy to assist you with this film. and you don't even have to pay me for my services. becuase i am such a nice person."
so holly and i faked a game of rummy while monica made tea in the background. this is the shot of holly winning. and obviously i am a good actor because my "losing face" is so authentic you cant tell that i never loose.

the begining of freedom.
i kicked off my spring break with the best kind of party you can go to... a wedding!!!!!!
kimie cook is now kimie klawer. and i still dont know what to do, should i change her name in my phone book? (yes i have first and last names entered in my cell)
their wedding was beautiful. it really excites me to think about them spending the rest of their lives together. i really know that they love each other but more importantly the both love Jesus. their wedding really was awesome because Christ was the center, and if you want to have a successful relationship that really is the only way to do it. EEEE!!!!! congratulations mr and mrs klawer!!!!!!(this is a picture from when we camped out at the mo val chick fil a opening.)
kimie you really should start blogging.
after the wedding i freed the gold fishies in the fortuna fountain. im just waiting for my suspension now. because that is probably breaking some rule. but im pretty good at rule breaking. then me and nik went to drew and johnie mac's apartment and we hung out and had some friendship.
saturday i went out to dinner with the fam for jacob's 16th birthday!!!! for his birthday ate meat! after practicing vegetarianism for about a year he gave it up. so we got to go out for steak!
then i watched a movie with janai and holly. it was nice and relaxing.
today i went to junior high and daniel talked about job and how crazy his life was, yet he still continued to praise the lord when everything was falling apart around him. not to sound lame or anything but i really identify with this. it has been a hard year and i still know that God has a plan for my life and He is the only reason for doing anyhting. its hard to remember that everything i do need to be a reflection of Him working in me. but im trying.
then i walked with holly and bryce to cvs to buy popsicles. i realized that i love popsicles. i watched a movie, started to pack and walked to subway with holly for dinner. jacob came over and we went to sandals together.
now im at home watching some antm.
and i still have a whole week of spring break left!!!!

learning from roommates.
so we all have our own way of doing things.
example: did you know some people put their egg shells down the garbage disposal? that is just weird to me. not that i cook eggs that often or anything
other observations
- jillian calls the remote control the buttons. she says, " do you know where the buttons are?" when she cant find it.
- she also calls sharpies permanent pens. i say permanent markers.
- holly makes her oatmeal in a pot. i don't know exactly how it works. she like measures a cup of water and a cup of oats (from the cardboard can thing!) and cooks it all together.
- i make my oatmeal by opening one of those little packets (cinnamon apple is my fave) and pouring it into a bowl. i then boil water in a tea kettle and pour it over the oats, mix it up and sometimes add milk. (my way i only have to wash one bowl instead of a bowl and a pot.)
- kristin uses a scrub brush to wash her dishes and monica uses a sponge.
- when monica makes a quesadilla she uses olive oil in a frying pan and does it that way. i just make mine in the microwave. (again it comes down to the number of dishes i have to wash.
- top ramen... everyone is a little different. i like to follow the directions on the bag (boil 2 cups water, add noodles, cook for 4 minutes, add seasonings.) some people put the water and noodle together and then microwave.
- cindy makes cookies using half crisco and half butter. holly uses honey in her cookies. monica seems to always put peanut butter chips in her brownies.
- sweetener? well cindy uses splenda for everything. i like sugar in the raw, that and i like to drink my drink before it gets the chance to dilute. i just find joy in crunching on sugar.

thanks mlk jr.
thanks to the awesomeness that is martin luther king junior i had a awesome four day weekend (four-day because i never have school on fridays).
friday- i joined cindy, holly, and monica at pf changs. we feasted on yummy food (crispy honey shrimp is my fave) and had a great time. i love that place. riverside has really stepped it up restaurant wise. later that night kristin and i went to the movies. we saw atonement. it was pretty good. a nice mix of artsy stuff, history, mystery, suspense. the film moves super slow at times, but besides that and the glamorization of smoking it was two thumbs up. and im really a fan of the green dress kiera wore. its so glamorous. good movie. i would recommend it.
saturday- i slept way way in. and then cindy janai and i went to java bliss to get our study on. but they closed at 7 so we had to bounce over to my house for great conversations, homework, and guitar hero.
sunday- church at the grove. i went to "big church" and i think im learning i have the attention span of a junior higher. the service highlighted some of the trips that the church went on this past year, and educatated the members about the importance of going to the ends of the earth.
the past year and a half has been awesome in regards to my mission opportuinities. i got to go to mexico, chile, utah, and cambodia. but i really dont know what the Lord has in store for me this summer. Back to cambodia? hatti? utah? costa rica? tibet? job? summer camp? san fransisco? i just dont know...
after brunch janai and i watched a good ten hours of prison break season 2. it was intense. great show.
we went to sandals at 7. and i really dont know what to say.
ok i will say that sometimes all the "stuff" gets in the way of worship. and i know its not about whether or not i like the particular song we are singing... but whether or not it is pleasing to Gods ears. but for me smacking a beach ball around during the singing of Queen's "we will rock you" was pretty distracting from the reason i sing.
we came back form sandals and watched more prison break.
i fell asleep to this...
monday- kristin woke me up in time for lunch. following a 2 1/2 caf expierence we had a mlk photo shoot.
then some more prison break. we plowed through most of season two. we only have 2 episodes left! seriously and amazing show. i can not wait for season three to come out on dvd. (i cant watch it on real time tv because every single commercial break is a clif hanger and im too impatient to wait a whole week for a new episode...so i just wait months and watch it all in one foul swoop)(i know. fell swoop, but i have been saying fowl for years)
then i went to jonnie mac and drew's apartment. we played guitar hero.
i cleaned my room. did laundry. read some. painted my nails (gold sparkley). ate a few lemon heads. thanks for staying with me through this lonnnng blog. i think this is my longest yet. or maybe i just put some big pictures up in here to deceive you.
:]

back to school.
today i started my spring semester. it was a good day.
i kicked it off with breakfast in the caf with kristin.
followed by chapel with (sorta) jillian. (we were separated by about seven people). i was kinda distracted and wasnt that into the message. like john montgomery made some good points, but his style is so cliche. eh. idk.
then i had my digital imaging class. it was nice. im back with pardee in the basement. and i think the class will be interesting and useful. expect a super rad myspace pic by the end of that class.
next was my current trends in youth ministry class. im way excited about this one. i think i was the only non-christian studies major there. and im real excited about what we will be studding in class. also my teacher totally listed his blogspot on the syllabus. so hi-tech.
highlight of my day: discovering both of my classes will not be meeting on fridays! so i basically have a three day weekend every weekend.
:]
and then i ate lunch with janai and suzy. and janai and i hung out with abby for a while and watched a movie.
dinner was uneventful.
emily came over and i said bye to her. now she is off to florida and then chicago.
and then the night ended with some gossip girl with kristin. i love that show.
i want the writers strike to end so we will get a season two. is that selfish of me?
well im going to go to bed now. even though my classes start at 11. i guess 10 hours of sleep wont hurt.

weird day so far.
so i woke up this morning to holly printing something on my computer. it was just weird. i was so confused. like i totally dont care that she used my printer it was just weird to wake up to that.
and then i fell back asleep and cindy came into my room. i have no idea what she was doing. i feel like she just opened the door and looked at me.
then i fell back asleep.
and i woke up and my clock alarm said 1:10. i started crying. and freaking out. my anthropology final was from 11-1. i walked over to holly and monica's room and told them i had slept through my final. they were sympathetic and asked what time it was. i said it was from 11-1.
then holly said, "rachel, its only 10:15"
i was so confused. my clock clearly said 1:13 at this point.
so i put on clothes. did a little last minute review. and went to take my test.
i think i did pretty good. but now starts the waiting process.

a blog is a great excuse to procrastinate.
so i have a big presentation due tomorrow (technically today).
in my english class i am writing a research paper about the value of graffiti as art. the paper is not due for three more weeks but for some reason i have to present my findings to class tomorrow.
i am almost done but i cant stay focused.
i feel more pressure to deliver an interesting presentation because graffiti is cool and edgy. and i am cool and edgy. so of course my presentation should be cool and edgy.
i wish i had just written about nuclear physics so people would just tune me out and not actually listen to what i have to say.
i sat down at my mac to start it yesterday but didnt get very far. i found some more research so now i have about 20 articles (but i really need to actually read them now).
and i am a professional procrastinator so all day i have found things to distract me.
mostly things normally wouldn't do: reading for other classes. cleaning my room. making the bed. doing dishes.
and then i had a legitimate excuse:
chelsea and hannah! (pictured below at my last beach trip with the high school (we were playing some crazy picture game))today there are about a million high school seniors at cbu for the preview day.
so right now as i "work on my presentation" they are sleeping on the floor behind me.
SCRATCH THAT. chelsea is sleep talking and hannah is telling her to stop sleep talking and go to bed. haha. that was funny.
ok. well i have checked my email, facebook, myspace, google analytics, my blog roll, and written a blog. its time to get back to work.
i realize that was not parallel structure, sue me.
actually i am going to get one more glass of water. then work some more.
well i might as well use the bathroom one more time.

converts.
sience i decided to limit my myspacing and facebooking i have converted three friends to the world of blogs.
abby was the first to jump in. she is super cool. and she is from minnesota, which makes her even cooler. last year she lived diagonaly across the hall from me. i met her becasuse one of the first days of orientation last year she wrote a note on sydney's white board saying hi. then i looked her up on myspace. and she encoraged me to get a facebook. so now i guess it has gone full circle.
next katelyn, abby's bff from mn started a blog. i finnaly got to meet her this summer and we all went to back to the grind and played phase ten. she has not been updating that frequently. katelyn, you need to step it up.
several days ago jillian finally started her blog. she is my room mate. and my friend. she is also super cool. or should i say hecka cool? she is from nor cal, after all. uh im pretty sure we met because we both did not have a 11:15 class seccond semister and then we had our 12:20 class together with dr m. so we would eat lunch and then go to class. she would eat pasta every day.
and yesterday kristin started one as well. she is from norway. no thats a lie. she is from ontario canada. that is also a lie. she actually is from ontario california. i dont really remember how we met. sorry. but she lives in my cottage. and she plays the piano. and her taste in music would lead one to believe she is a pot head. she is a pot head. no, thats a lie too.
so like the movie pay it forward if we all just get one more person to blog and they can get one more person to blog eventually the world will be a better place.

halloween
i carved a pirate jack o lantern. i totally used a stencil. i was considering lying and saying i came up with the design all on my own, but the stencil is totally in the picture so i couldn't really get away with that.
on halloween i helped out with trunk n' treat. kids are cute. but parents are kind of silly
its dumb when parents take their newborn trick or treating. how can a baby who dosent have teeth eat candy? they cant. the moms are going to eat it all.
oh and the highlight of my night was getting yelled at. we were told to only give candy to kids under 12. so when somone who looked older came to our trunk we would ask them how old they were. several kids admitted to being 13+ (one even admitted to bing 17 1/2) so we would tell them to go play the games and stuff. then some crazy mom on a power trip came to our trunk and said "you told my daughter she couldn't have candy, you were wrong. i talked to the head pastor and he siad there was no age limit. bla bla bla."
sorry. i was just doing what i was told to do.
i kinda don't really like the idea of trunk or treat. not because i think its a satanic holiday or anything. i don't understand why every church in riverside needs to have a carnival. i wonder how much money churches spent this year on halloween.i was a jock. i got 2 comments on my costume.
- "what year did you graduate?" "06" "i graduated in from poly in 85"
- "dang, was there anything you didn't win" (yah, i was a stud back in the day)

just keep swimming...
tuesday night all the girls in my cottage went out for baskin robins for $1 scoops.
on the way home bethany got the bright idea to jump in the fountain at school and take pictures. so we got someone to be our photographer and ran over to the fountain.we took our pictures and headed back to our cottage. but we didnt get any pictures with joel (our photographer) so we so a guy heading toward us so we waited for him to get close and we said, "hey would you please take a picture of us"
he said, "sure, after i write down your names and id numbers."
"wait, what?" we were so busted. apparently getting in the fountain is illegal.
so we were freaking out. i made our rd a card.the next day i gave her the card and she said, "you know there is like a $100 fine for getting in the fountain."
but she was totally joking. we arnt in trouble at all.
oh college.
