nor cal weekend.
friday morning, 4am we left.
our first stop was at julia's uncle's vineyard.we labeled some bottles for him and then we were back on the rode.
we got to redding and went tout to red robin for heather's 21st birthday.
heather is a generous person and proved this point by sharing her free sunday with julia.the next day we slept in. then we went to target. i walked away with a pack of gum, and im pretty sure that deserves an award. its so hard to resist.
when we got back to the simpson campus we were attacked by geese. ok not really, but we did go watch a soccer game.
for dinner we went out for sushi. and jackie, who hates sishi, had rice.
after sushi we got to go over to trav and annette's house. we had brownies, and friendship and played games. and i didnt take any pictures. :[ but payton did, so maybe someday we will make guest appearances on their blogs.
there are alot of riverside people currently residing in redding. melissa, who is heather's ra (they affectionately call her boss), elizabeth(fern), heather's suitemate. and the lances.
sunday we went to the sundial bridge and took abbout 200 photos.we also took a million jumping pictures. julia is a retired cheerleader, and i am channeling my inner ninja.
we got to make a stop at my cousin greg's house where i met my new cousin (once removed? seccond cousin?) kingston. my brother chun was also in nor cal, so that was cool and random.
and then my computer ran out of space, so there are no more pictures to show.
if anyone has an external hardrive laying around i could use one.

i love genius.
seriously, if you haven't downloaded the new itunes yet, do it.
i love the genius playlists!
so abby and holly asked about the specific changes to the caf.
the main thing is they took the bar of cereal and milk and ice cream and moved it out by where the other soda machines are.
this is what my comment card said:
- "I think the changes to the cereal bar are good, but the new open space should be better utilized [right now they just have a bunch of fruit trays and yogurt]
- expand the sandwich bar to include different varieties of bread
- bring back daily guacamole
- when students ask for their salads/wraps/sandwiches to be customized the employees should comply with a positive attitude
- when studednts get a to go box the meal should be prepared for that box, students should not be expected to dump a salad from a plate into their box
- bring back individual bags of chips, including the baked variety
- make jello without the whipped cream on top
- good job with sourdough bread, croissants, and cheesy bread
- more selection on chicken strip thursday nights
- get a panini maker that is is always out for students to use
- go back to self serve sushi for sunday brunch
- the pumpkin cookies are delicious
- good job on labeling the desserts
- bring back asparagus
- good job with rearranging the tables
have ou filled out a comment car yet?

comment card.
the cal baptist caf is delicious. we have lots of options, fresh sushi three times a week, and waffles that say cbu.
i am thankful to have access so such high quality food, when i know that a good chunk of the population does not.
but with that being said, i feel like the caf is not as good as it was last year. there have been many changes, some good and others not so good.
so i am taking a stand. i just filled out a comment card
and i encourage you to do the same. if we all complain, they will have to change.

rice krispies treats cereal, i thought you were gone forever.
this used to be my favorite type of cereal:i remember trenton from down the street would come over before kindergarden and we would watch tv and eat rice krispies treats cereal before school. i also remember him getting nose bleeds kinda frequently.
this amazing cereal is made up of bits of amazing rice krispie treats. and i thought they stopped making it. but you can totally buy it from amazon!
yay.
and i know its like the same exact thing as eating a rice krispie treat square.
but eating it out of a bowl with a spoon is so much more fun.

secret outing #2
i surprised heather, jackie , and julia with lunch at tio's tacos.
its this crazy sweet mexican restaurant. the food is kinda nothing special. well heather's chicken burrito was real good. so i recommend the chicken burritos.
but better than the food is the crazy art. the owner of the resturant has taken a bunch of random junk and turned it into fountains and statues.
so i never know weather to put the expiation above or below the pictures. today we are going to go with above.
a man and woman made out of toys. the womans dress is made out of barbie dolls. this is a chapel made out of old bottles. there are seats and an alter and a holy water holder thing on the inside. the ceiling is painted . its pretty remarkable.
a muffler band.
all of us! also these benches were pretty cool. they were made out of old bed frames.
mabe i will add more pictures once julia gets hers online.
i have pretty much have been blessed with some stinking awesome friends who accept random outings like this.
so as an art major i am allowed to sit here pondering art and beauty. what is art? is this stuff art? is it junk? does art have to beautiful? aesthetics? color? composition?
kinda off topic, but also related- i realy want to take a welding class. like i think if i got a torch and a bunch of steel i could make something pretty rad. mind you this is just a hypothesis. but i do want to try.
i think its awesome that the first verb in the bible is created. and i mean i am created in God's image. so now i need to get out there and create. and be creative.

la playa.
so im at may grandparents house in north hollywood. and im trying to work on homework. key word: trying.
basically this little ten year old girl chevelle is here and she wants to play with me. and i taught her how to make some origami things. and we played cards. now i just want to do my homework in peace. like she keeps coming over and reading everyhting and asking questions. and like i was being totally nice and talking to her but now i have my headphones in and i am listing to music so maybe she will get the hint. it doesn't seem to be working though. she is still talking to me and AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
so yesterday i went to the beach with eric, corinne, and paul (you guys need blogs!). it was a beautiful day. we played volley ball (well not really), and catch phrase (love!), took lots of pictures (well everyone else did and i didnt take a single picture), barbecued hot dogs (i like em burnt), and then had s'mores. no not some more hot dogs. s'mores.(i took eric's pictures off facebook(i want a cool camera so i can have a rachel weinstein photography site))
chevelle is now watching sponge bob>>>>now back to the home work.
:]
woah, its weird that i am excited about doing homework.

learning from roommates.
so we all have our own way of doing things.
example: did you know some people put their egg shells down the garbage disposal? that is just weird to me. not that i cook eggs that often or anything
other observations
- jillian calls the remote control the buttons. she says, " do you know where the buttons are?" when she cant find it.
- she also calls sharpies permanent pens. i say permanent markers.
- holly makes her oatmeal in a pot. i don't know exactly how it works. she like measures a cup of water and a cup of oats (from the cardboard can thing!) and cooks it all together.
- i make my oatmeal by opening one of those little packets (cinnamon apple is my fave) and pouring it into a bowl. i then boil water in a tea kettle and pour it over the oats, mix it up and sometimes add milk. (my way i only have to wash one bowl instead of a bowl and a pot.)
- kristin uses a scrub brush to wash her dishes and monica uses a sponge.
- when monica makes a quesadilla she uses olive oil in a frying pan and does it that way. i just make mine in the microwave. (again it comes down to the number of dishes i have to wash.
- top ramen... everyone is a little different. i like to follow the directions on the bag (boil 2 cups water, add noodles, cook for 4 minutes, add seasonings.) some people put the water and noodle together and then microwave.
- cindy makes cookies using half crisco and half butter. holly uses honey in her cookies. monica seems to always put peanut butter chips in her brownies.
- sweetener? well cindy uses splenda for everything. i like sugar in the raw, that and i like to drink my drink before it gets the chance to dilute. i just find joy in crunching on sugar.

thanks mlk jr.
thanks to the awesomeness that is martin luther king junior i had a awesome four day weekend (four-day because i never have school on fridays).
friday- i joined cindy, holly, and monica at pf changs. we feasted on yummy food (crispy honey shrimp is my fave) and had a great time. i love that place. riverside has really stepped it up restaurant wise. later that night kristin and i went to the movies. we saw atonement. it was pretty good. a nice mix of artsy stuff, history, mystery, suspense. the film moves super slow at times, but besides that and the glamorization of smoking it was two thumbs up. and im really a fan of the green dress kiera wore. its so glamorous. good movie. i would recommend it.
saturday- i slept way way in. and then cindy janai and i went to java bliss to get our study on. but they closed at 7 so we had to bounce over to my house for great conversations, homework, and guitar hero.
sunday- church at the grove. i went to "big church" and i think im learning i have the attention span of a junior higher. the service highlighted some of the trips that the church went on this past year, and educatated the members about the importance of going to the ends of the earth.
the past year and a half has been awesome in regards to my mission opportuinities. i got to go to mexico, chile, utah, and cambodia. but i really dont know what the Lord has in store for me this summer. Back to cambodia? hatti? utah? costa rica? tibet? job? summer camp? san fransisco? i just dont know...
after brunch janai and i watched a good ten hours of prison break season 2. it was intense. great show.
we went to sandals at 7. and i really dont know what to say.
ok i will say that sometimes all the "stuff" gets in the way of worship. and i know its not about whether or not i like the particular song we are singing... but whether or not it is pleasing to Gods ears. but for me smacking a beach ball around during the singing of Queen's "we will rock you" was pretty distracting from the reason i sing.
we came back form sandals and watched more prison break.
i fell asleep to this...
monday- kristin woke me up in time for lunch. following a 2 1/2 caf expierence we had a mlk photo shoot.
then some more prison break. we plowed through most of season two. we only have 2 episodes left! seriously and amazing show. i can not wait for season three to come out on dvd. (i cant watch it on real time tv because every single commercial break is a clif hanger and im too impatient to wait a whole week for a new episode...so i just wait months and watch it all in one foul swoop)(i know. fell swoop, but i have been saying fowl for years)
then i went to jonnie mac and drew's apartment. we played guitar hero.
i cleaned my room. did laundry. read some. painted my nails (gold sparkley). ate a few lemon heads. thanks for staying with me through this lonnnng blog. i think this is my longest yet. or maybe i just put some big pictures up in here to deceive you.

chipotle, you have let me down.
my favorite food is a chipotle burrito.
and this is how you make it.
"i would like a vegetarian burrito"
--"would you like to add sauteed onions and bell peppers?"
"no thank you"
--"what kind of meat?"
"no meat."
--"salsa?"
"corn salsa and mild salsa, please"
--"sour cream and cheese?"
"yes"
--"guacamole?"
"yes please"
--"anything else?"
"would you please cut my burrito in half?"
--"sure. would you like chips and salsa? a drink?"
"just chips and a free drink please"
--"can i see your student id card?"
and then i pay and enjoy. i take one half od the burrito and dump out the contents into a bowl. the other half gets wrapped up and stored in the fridge for later. or if im with my mom she eats the other half. i dip the chips into the burrito filling and eat the soggy tortilla on the side.
but tonight i heard the terrible news. chipotle no longer gives out free drinks to students. i guess as of january first they stopped that act of kindness.
