The office.

AHHHHHHH!
ok. today heather, edgar and I decided to go into la to find a random adventure. on the way there we were looking on the iphone for "top FREE things to do in la and that sort of thing

We found the address for the exterior filming of the Scranton Business park and the Dunder Miffilin parking lot so we decided to go.

we pulled up and there's Andy (david wallace) standing outside talking to some fans from texas. he was so nice and he remembered our names and introduced us to some sound people who came over to tell him that he was going to start filming. Andy told us we could watch his scene with John (jim) from the parking lot. so we waited.

and we saw them film but i honestly have no idea what happened in the scene except for a serious conversation between jim and david wallace that ended with jim walking away.

but then we waited by the exit and oscar drove up to the gate, parked his car, and got out to take a picture with us.

and then the same thing happened with Kate (Meridith)
we waited a few more minutes and saw John Krasinski getting into his car. and we were excited. and then he drove off the lot and waved and we thought he wasn't going to stop. but he totally did. basically parked his car in the street and took a picture with us.

apparently people just started coming two weeks ago, before this season they didn't even have security guards or anything. so if you want to take a trip to scranton i suggest doing it before they get too swamped with fans.

i love southern california.

i love so cal.

where else could you plan to go to the beach. then on the way there change your mind and head into hollywood.
and then drive around bel aire and see michael jackson's house, and the jonas brothers house.
then go back to hollywood blvd and see a taping of the jimmy kimmel show.

and then end the night with a trip to the santa monica pier with a ride on the ferris wheel.

secret trips # 3 and #4

so wednesday night heather took us to go see these guys!
and i was so excited.the cast of mythbusters!!! they were at ucr.
so jamie and adam were absent (and holly i did totally lie to you we decided we were going to lie to people and tell them we met everyone cause that was cooler. sorry.)
we got to see bloopers and then there was a question and answer period. favortie moment of the night would be the 7 year old boy who asked carrie if she was single.

then this morning jackie and i went to the casting for deal or no deal!!! (heather and julia couldn't come.)
it was at the commerce outlet mall.
we waited in line for six hours!
and then they divided us up into groups of ten and we each had 30 seconds to tell them about our lives. i said "hi my name is rachel weinstein and i am a graphic design major at california baptist university. a random fact about my life is that last sumer when i was in cambodia i ate a fried turantula. and im leaving in a month to go to new orleans to work at a day camp."and the guy gave me a golden ticket!!! so i got to go on and have a second interview.
they asked me some more questions. the one that sticks out in my mind is 'what do you do for a living?" and i said im just a student and they asked what i did before. and i said, "well i was a elderly care giver for an 88 year old. so i lived at this jewish retirement center and played canasta."
(welcome to my random life, by the way.)

so basically i am in the system now and they could call me an tell me to come on the show at any time. or not. recently they had a guy on the show who applied in 2006! so its no quick process.

they also announced that deal or no deal is going into sydication and will be airing every night of the week in a new format. there will be 22 individuals each holding a case and howie will spin a wheel and it will land on a case and then that person gets to play the game. so they are casting more people than past seasons but even if you get on the show you aren't necessarily going to get to play.

mish. stay tuned there is a slim chance you will see this rockstar on tv.so maybe i need to learn how to keep my eyes open.
ohhhh tangent: in juno when juno and leah are sitting in the park looking at the penny saver juno says, "i was thinking something a lil more edgier like, graphic designer mid 30’s with an Asian girlfriend who like dresses awesome and rocks out on the bass guitar but i dont wanna be to particular"
thats like what i want my life to be!!!!! well except im the graphic designer and he is the cool asian who rocks out on the bass.

graduating is for chumps.

so i was just reading drew's blog. and honestly it made me tear up a bit. (its been an emotional morning, get off my back.)

but im really sad the semester is almost over. in addition to having lots of work to get done i don't want to say goo bye to the great people i have met.

im going to be the only one left from team ootah.
and that makes me so sad.

i know im being selfish and i should be excited about people moving forward in their lives. i think i might be slightly jealous. sometimes i feel like i should just quit school and start a greeting card company. or be a missionary. or work in advertising.

sometimes i just want to quit and work the reality show circuit for a while. i'll start out on one reality show. then ill do the reunion special. then ill be one of those people who are always on e! specials giving their opinions and funny comments on any given topic. then i will get a sponsorship and do commercials. then i will invent some great new item. travel the world promoting my product. adopting about 20 kids along the way. i would love to have my own fashion line. possibly a celebrity fragrance as well. become a judge on some new dancing show.

wow. sometimes i hope that no random lurkers are reading my blog because i know i sound crazy. but other times that idea excites me. kristin pretty much figured me out she said, "rachel you just want someone to read [an email i sent] that and say, 'oh i know that girl. she is so cool. i want to be her friend." well kristin you were spot on.
so random person i want to be your friend too.

the moment of truth.

so i watched the moment of truth while i was home for spring break. its crazy!!!!
the game show seems simple enough- the contestant is asked 50 questions ahead of time while hooked up to a lie detector test.

if they answer the questions 100% truthfully they win money. but one lie and the contestant loose everything.
the questions start out funny, "have you ever lied on you income taxes?" but they get way more personal.

watching the show just makes me realized how screwed up humans are.

so this girl admits to cheating on her husband and wins $100,000. then she is given the chance to double her money by answering three more questions.
they ask "do you think you are a good person"
she says "yes"
and her answer is deemed false.

so she cheated on her husband which is horrible.
but i almost think it is worse that she still thinks she is a good person. i think this is one reason its so hard to reach people in our culture. it's hard to get people to understand that they are sinners. everything is so relative. and to me relative truth makes no sense. i mean truth is truth right? i just cant wrap my head around it.

and then sometimes i forget what a crappy person i am. i do not deserve grace, none of us do.
but i do know if i ever went on that show i would be alright with saying i am not a good person. because im not. im a sinner. and i screw up all the time. but the awesome thing is that is doesn't matter. because i have grace.

here is that hour long episode in about three minutes.

thanks mlk jr.

thanks to the awesomeness that is martin luther king junior i had a awesome four day weekend (four-day because i never have school on fridays).

friday- i joined cindy, holly, and monica at pf changs. we feasted on yummy food (crispy honey shrimp is my fave) and had a great time. i love that place. riverside has really stepped it up restaurant wise. later that night kristin and i went to the movies. we saw atonement. it was pretty good. a nice mix of artsy stuff, history, mystery, suspense. the film moves super slow at times, but besides that and the glamorization of smoking it was two thumbs up. and im really a fan of the green dress kiera wore. its so glamorous. good movie. i would recommend it.

saturday- i slept way way in. and then cindy janai and i went to java bliss to get our study on. but they closed at 7 so we had to bounce over to my house for great conversations, homework, and guitar hero.

sunday- church at the grove. i went to "big church" and i think im learning i have the attention span of a junior higher. the service highlighted some of the trips that the church went on this past year, and educatated the members about the importance of going to the ends of the earth.

the past year and a half has been awesome in regards to my mission opportuinities. i got to go to mexico, chile, utah, and cambodia. but i really dont know what the Lord has in store for me this summer. Back to cambodia? hatti? utah? costa rica? tibet? job? summer camp? san fransisco? i just dont know...

after brunch janai and i watched a good ten hours of prison break season 2. it was intense. great show.

we went to sandals at 7. and i really dont know what to say.
ok i will say that sometimes all the "stuff" gets in the way of worship. and i know its not about whether or not i like the particular song we are singing... but whether or not it is pleasing to Gods ears. but for me smacking a beach ball around during the singing of Queen's "we will rock you" was pretty distracting from the reason i sing.

we came back form sandals and watched more prison break.
i fell asleep to this...

monday- kristin woke me up in time for lunch. following a 2 1/2 caf expierence we had a mlk photo shoot.

then some more prison break. we plowed through most of season two. we only have 2 episodes left! seriously and amazing show. i can not wait for season three to come out on dvd. (i cant watch it on real time tv because every single commercial break is a clif hanger and im too impatient to wait a whole week for a new episode...so i just wait months and watch it all in one foul swoop)(i know. fell swoop, but i have been saying fowl for years)

then i went to jonnie mac and drew's apartment. we played guitar hero.

i cleaned my room. did laundry. read some. painted my nails (gold sparkley). ate a few lemon heads. thanks for staying with me through this lonnnng blog. i think this is my longest yet. or maybe i just put some big pictures up in here to deceive you.

Taking out the trash (tv).

i confess. watching garbage on tv is one of my vices.

My tv is almost always on mtv. and i watch whatever trash they feed me. but this semester i am trying something new: if i have homework or reading to do im not going to turn the tv on.

all this week i hadnt watched anything until what not to wear last night.

ok. thats a lie. i did watch the office with mon and holly. and degrassi with julia and kristin. but besides that nothing.

in other news: i am completely addicted to jetman. serously all you facebookers need to add it.
or maybe you shouldn't.

amercia's next top grandpa model.

thursday in the middle of my aesthetics in the class room class my mom called me. and i ignored her call. three times. because i was paying attention and i have never been one to leave a class to answer a call. i actually never leave my class.
i just feel awkward. and i dont understand why people need to use the bathroom during class. i mean there are 24 hours in a day, just wait till after class.
well come to find out my mom was calling me because my grandma was in the hospital and they were running a bunch of tests to figure out what was wrong.

becuase i have an awesome school schedule i was able to go to north hollywood that night with my dad. when we got to the hospital my grandma looked pretty good. im not a doctor or anything but i think she must have been faking it.

friday i hung out with my grandpa and we watched americas next top model for about four hours. i dont know why i find thoes reruns entertaining. but it was cycle 7 i believe. where nicole wins.

saturday grandpa got to pick what we watched. football. ew. honestly football is my least favorite sport. i feel like for professionals the players are not that good. if i was a professional football player i would probably be better then them.

my grandma was suposed to go home today but her blood count is really low and they are going to do more tests. thanks for your prayers.

now im going to get organized by writing down all the important dates from my syllabi (spell check is not recognizing this word) into my planner. and im hanging out with my awesome dog hannah. then i will go back to school.
